I honestly felt nothing when leaving the FiST. It was devoloping too many issues in too short of a time frame, plus, I’ve wanted a more grown up car for a while.

Aside from the obvious differences in fit/finish, how do they differ in your initial observations? Like power/handling/comfort?

I feel like getting a GTI some day is my logical progression from my STi if I ever decide to grow old.

The GTI is 98% of the FiST’s fun, while actually functioning as a car. It’s much more composed, and it feels so much more solid.

Generally when I’ve been ready to get rid of a car, I don’t feel regret or nostalgia about walking away from it. I’m ready to move on and excited about the new one.

Now that I think about it, the only time I’ve felt a little nostalgia when trading in a car was just recently, when we traded my wife’s Impreza in for her CX-5. Not that I had any great love for the Impreza as a car. It was fine. I liked how well it rode over bumps, and its great visibility, but it was a little noisy and a lot slow. It might have been because that was the car we drove to/from our wedding.

What trim level? Does it have the super-duper-differential? 6MT or DSG?

Does it have plaid seats?

Remove the clutch return spring from the clutch pedal, and delete the clutch delay valve for a much more defined clutch feel. I also recommend installing a turbo muffler delete along with a stronger boost cut-off spring (unless you intend to run an actual wastegate).

And if you have the 6MT, the Cobb Tuning shift knob replacement is fantastic. If you want a touch of plaid I have a couple original seat fabric shift boots that are custom- made to fit the Cobb replacement knob and the original shifter trim.

Think it’s easier when you’re trading one car in and getting another then and there . Enough excitement with the new one to cover up the emotions about the old one. Trying to sell the E30 I’ve had for a decade now – and its TOUGH. I’ve listed it twice before and ended up backing out of selling it. But this time I know I have to so it’s going to happen.

I’d consider trading it in at a dealership for something else to help with the grief, if I wouldn’t get hosed so badly on such an old niche car that most dealers don’t want to have to deal with. Plus I’d like to know that the car ends up going to a decent home and have its history go with it…a dealership will probably just give me peanuts for it and ship it off to auction.

The Fiesta really should just be a 3 door hatch. We test drove one and those back seats are about a size useless as it gets. The Golf is a much better at for anyone that regularly carrries more than one person.

Nice. One of the cars occasionally think would have been a better choice than my E90 is a FiST. But really for my life the e90 is a better choice.

It’s just as fun to drive as it is comfortable, and gives a sense of confidence that I’ve never experienced before.

Gearbox whine, the seat rails were loose but tight to the floor(?), the interior was pretty much falling apart, it burned coolant but wasn’t part of the recall, etc. All this at 40k miles made me decide to dump it.

I have no regrets about it , this thing is absolutely perfect. It has every mod I wanted to do to the Fiesta from the factory. It’s fast, attractive, comfortable, and well built.

I came very close to buying one in addition to the Fiesta ST, I totally get it. I don't find that it is as focused as the ST when it comes to performance, but it is a much better car all around.
