Those high visibility stripes on your shoulders looked like suspenders when I looked quickly. That and the pose makes you look like a classy  old money James May (in a good way).

Very true.

Also, that color is growing on me at an alarming rate. I used to think it was flat and  boring but I now think it’s beautiful.

Same difference , while I also call them coveralls, I’ve heard others refer to them as overalls.

It is interesting that overalls don’t actually cover all...

Apparently using “ overalls” is more common in the UK.

Ain’t that the truth, facing an opportunity to make an amazing career move but means relocating from MI to CA. Which at this point is fairly daunting logistically.

SLO, I think I am going to pull the trigger once the negotiations are over. My wife was recently laid off, we have huge upside on our house in this market and no kids. We don’t have many excuses not to do it.

If it’s just the two of you, just rent or buy small in a good area and enjoy getting out and exploring in the evenings instead of staying in.

That’s the current plan, we have a 3x1.5 @ ~1800 sq ft now, but realistically we are looking to go to 2x1.5 @ ~1000 sq ft there and we would be comfortable.

I basically got offered a 35% raise to maintain my standard of living out there, and to me it seems plausible to make it work fiscally.

Any place to avoid looking for an apartment? Planning to come out possibly next week to finalize the offer and meet the team and plan to look around for housing.

I wish you luck. Is the job in SLO itself or elsewhere? The SLO rental market is completely insane and is dominated by Cal Poly, so I’d avoid town unless you want to pay too much for proximity. Worth looking, but I wouldn’t expect to find much value. Availability is low, housing is a big topic of discussion lately. Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach, and Shell Beach to the south are only about 20 minutes away and are nice. Over the Grade to the North, Atascadero is pretty and rural but it’s a little bit of a drag to commute and is really hot in summer (I lived there for a couple of years before moving back to the coast). Not much to do up there, either. Paso Robles is a bit further north, also burning hot, and is growing quickly due to the wine industry. North county has nice evening patio weather though! On the coast, Morro Bay and Los Osos are cool (I live in Osos and work in SLO). , but there’s not much in the way of nice apartments that I know of. Basically, expect to pay at least $1.50/sq ft for any rental, more in SLO. You may find a duplex easier than an apartment. I’ll keep eyes open!

Job is in SLO itself, my wife and I were looking towards Morro and Osos so far so that’s good to know. Also seems like few places allow pets which I found surprising.

I still prefer Tanzanite blue though. It has so much depth.

I wasn’t a fan of the touching kidney grilles either but the new LCI headlights fit in with the kidneys in my opinion. Although I can’t get on board with them being chrome though. They look better black. Probably because it hides them, but oh well.
