S ome dumbass in a VW rear ended a stationary Policia van. Shattered pats of the right side of his car. Practically the whole squadron showed up to search for drugs, alcohol, bombs, guns, etc. Driver was a white guy with gray hair. Must be his lucky day. I’ll post pics and repost later. Also, all Spanish Opponauts, if you see a guy in a red Burger King wearing a pink backpack with passports inside, contact police, it’s prob stolen

I’ve never seen more accidents (mostly minor, thankfully) anywhere I’ve ever been than in Spain, every single one caused by a remarkable combination of overconfidence and undercompetence. It’s one of my favorite places on earth, one of the relatively few countries I’ve been to that I’d seriously consider moving to, and I would be terrified to own a car I cared about at all there.

Overconfident and incompetent is exactly how I’d describe most Spanish drivers.

Wow, I haven’t seen a Corte Ingles in 20 years. Memooorrries. I once bought luggage padlocks there. It took about an hour to find them. A ferreterí a , it is not.
Is that the Placa Catalunya?

It does seem like it is.
I think Corte Ingles really improved in the last few years. But really, the only thing I cared about there is the tourist tax free.

I’m not there, obviously, but yes, it definitely is--specifically, looking north from the south end.

It’s been a really long time, but IIRC this is near the north end of Las Ramblas and really close to the Hard Rock café. Tourist central.
It’s amazing that spending a half a
day there in 1998 can still leave me with such memories. And also the old naked people on the beach. Can’t be unseen.

It’s definitely right where Las Ramblas enters the Placa Catalunya...I don’t remember where the Hard Rock Cafe is relative to that but there are definitely American chains all around there—I distinctly recall walking past two Starbucks within a block of each other. Just like home (sigh).
Aaaaaand the old naked people on the beach, very unlike home.

Yep, spent the whole day there, took a tour on a bus. When I finished and went to Corte Ingles and later to a Supermarket, this was the sight I witnessed happen

When I was in Spain they were known as the place to go to spend $100 on a pair of $20 Levis.

Last week was the one year anniversary of a terror attack that occured a bit southeast of where you’re standing on La Rambla . Guy started running over people with a van. Ended up killing fifteen people and injuring about a hundred and fifty.

Oh my god. I was asking myself if that was the place because of all the police. Didnt he also jump out and stab more people? Or am I getting that confused from another attack? *sigh*

It’s Europe, everyone goes topless at the beach. It’s not a nudist thing. Nothing perverted about it, they just view the human body a bit differently. The bottomless dudes might be a perverted nudist thing.
