For starters, the document states that the Mustang GT500 will use a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, as long expected. Thanks to Ford Performance’s wizardry, this powertrain will deliver 720 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque while revving through to 7500 rpm. The document doesn’t say what transmission the pony car will use but does confirm that all the grunt will be sent through the rear wheels.
Elsewhere, the leak shows that the car will max out at an impressive 190 mph (305 km/h) and come complete with a carbon fiber driveshaft. These details all sound very promising. Sadly, there’s one massive elephant in the room; weight.
This document asserts that the Mustang GT500 has a curb weight of 4225 lbs (1,916 kg). That’s roughly 440 lbs (200 kg) heavier than the GT350 and almost as much as the porky Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

It’ll run over 200mph, the old trinity motored car did at 660hp.

I am all for power but the gluttony of new vehicles is unfortunate. I’d rather have a little less power and a lighter vehicle. It is too easy now-a-days to add power, it is far harder to make it light AND comfortable (and safe). I’ll take a well sorted, balanced, and quick car any day over a two ton muscle car.

4225 lbs ! Damn there going in the wrong direction. I love my Boss but if you start flinging it around tight corners it feels heavy.
This is about what I expected except for the weight

That’s... what my truck weighs. I mean, a small truck to be sure, but that’s what my truck weighs.
But it DOES have
an extra 420hp on me, soooooo...

But gearing?

Pretty much expected. I think the 350 is still the smart choice. Call me when we get a 3000lb Mustang/C hallenger/Camaro

Dreaming of a Miata-sized Muscle car.
Wait... How about Ford just takes the Miata and crams a coyote engine into it..... Rebrands it as a Shelby Roadster. Offers Ha stripe package. H mm...

7500 redline on a SC 5.2 V8? Seems fishy.

That is perilously close (within 100 lbs) to LC500 weight. It DOES however have like 250 hp on the Lexus, though .

The DOHC 5.0 might be a tight fit. The Miata’s engine bay is better suited for pushrod V8s or DOHC V6s (although the LFX is a cozy fit).

It’s a bogus report with misspelled words. An official document with spelling errors. The weight is absurd showing the car weighing around 500 lbs more than the GT 350. Everyone is wanting information regarding the GT500 that most swallowed this hook line and sinker. I’ll wait to see the real release from Ford. This is totally fake.

I’m guessing this stat sheet implies they're using the Voodoo? Could just wind the engine up to high hell

I’m just skeptical that a supercharged Voodoo would rev so high...

This seems to be bogus. The Torque is listed as ft-lbs. Any good engineer knows torque is measured in Lb-ft.
Im a member of the SAE and know one with any credibility uses ft-lbs.

Looks like the ZL1 tips the scales at just under 3900lbs in coupe form, so it has quite the advantage there.

The power bump compensates for the weight, sure.
But it would definitely be worse off in terms of handling with more weight. No matter how much power is added.

Quite possible. Yeah have to wait for Ford to confirm.

Isn’t it also odd that the max power rating occurs AT redline?
