I’ve heard of the dog days of summer, but this is more like Cerberus. Humidity tops out at around 80% in the mornings (when I go riding) but then dries out as we bake in the afternoon.

Our low dipped below 70 last night! First time since April, IIRC. And the highs are below 90 for a few days , which is also rare. The upstairs A/C actually stops running before we go to sleep at night.
August is crazy here, sometimes it’s the hottest month, other times it’s Early Fall. Sometimes both.

Thanks for making me feel better. And we’re only a few hours north. It’s only a few degrees, but it makes a difference

I keep waiting for it to hit 90 aga in here. That’s when I’m happiest in my naked Jeep.
Unfortunately I think I’m out of 90° days for the year. Visiting family in Florida next week without the Jeep and by the time I get back it’s September . Boo.

At least your weather isn’t manic.
It dropped down to 55F last night. It was 80 the same time on Monday.

Come back in February and give an update.

It’s been hot humid and floody in Southeastern PA, but we’re headed to the beach this weekend and it’s looking good!

I hate you.

Well, not entirely. They offered to pay for my graduate school and I ended up staying. I never imagined myself in TX.

stubbornly refusing to rain here still... but the temperatures have dropped to the mid 60s daytime wich is lovely

I’m desperate for a high in the 70s.

Massholes over Texas folks... damn that’s a tough choice.

Can’t complain about the temps, though that Monday-Wednesday swing annoys me. I just wish it would stop &*(&*(^&$ raining for a while. We’ve hit a skosh over 36" of rain so far, a level we normally hit in December.

Surprisingly based on the past several weeks, not too soggy here:
Going to be a little muggy when I’m in Hotlanta next weekend, but even that isn’t looking too bad.

12 degrees with 30mph winds? Pfffft. Childs play.

Try loading up a 53 ft tractor trailer in 100+ degree weather. I've passed out twice from it already.

We’re back in a drought. Yay.

The humidity here in DC likes to fuck with you. It goes back up when the sun goes down. Usually I’m at the gym when the sun goes down, and it’s way more humid on the way back out to my car than when I arrived.

Ugh.
We’re finally getting a reprieve from the heat here. Temps have dropped, projected to be low 20's c all week... And there is some mist coming down at the moment. Hopefully it pours before we all burn to the ground.
I’ll keep m y AC on for you though , in solidarity.

Our place is to the end of a valley branch pointing mostly SW, so rain is substantially higher than in town, where it’s already quite high. We occasionally get a dry year, but soggy from March to June and from August to October seems to be not unusual. Then for some reason it tends to just get cold in winter, with only occasional big snows.
Sometimes windy here as well. I’ve had a car shelter wear through its cable ties to the ground and flip over backward, places in town sometimes lose shingles and suffer damage, we lose trees on a regular basis
, and a couple of times there have been small tornadoes out in town. Not Great Plains levels of windy, but considering that Grandfather Mountain (an hour from here) has had 200MPH gusts... the weather is pretty dynamic regionally overall.
![]() 08/23/2018 at 12:10 |
|
I would gladly trade dynamic for the endless stretches of sunny and hot weather we have every summer.

I grew up in Norfolk, so I’m well aware of that coastal humidity. It’s a bitch.

Not only that, the escape options leaving either are pretty bad.

What is this rain stuff. Seems so foreign to me. I havent seen something above a 0% chance of rain in the extended forecast since like February. I legitimately feel like rain is only something that exists in movies or something. I truly understand why people here go apeshit when it actually does rain.

Hey look at the bright side, it could only be hotter lol. Last time I was in Dallas like a month ago it was ten degrees warmer during the day and like 20 degrees warmer at night. That is the only place I have ever been where it was 100F at 10pm and that finally felt “cool” compared to earlier.
I dont understand how the homeless or just people without AC survive that ever. I cant even envision being in 80+ without AC so that seems insane. Winter is really frigging nice in Texas though, aside from those rare icing days.
![]() 08/23/2018 at 19:11 |

Winter is nice, but I don’t like 80 degrees on Halloween, and I don’t like 70 degrees on Christmas Day.
![]() 08/23/2018 at 19:51 |
|
I have no qualms with 70 degrees every day all the time lol. That is why I love “winter” in Socal. Temps stay 60-80 and it ocassionally rains. And down at the beach or way up in the mountains, it stays that way in the summer. Whoever thought having it be cold as shit on Christmas and dealing with snow was somehow a good thing is silly. Leave the snow to the mountains and just have paradise at home.

i’d be happy with that.
