The o ldest craft brewery in the city . We didn’t get a tour but conveniently the equipment was in the tasting room.

Kinja'd!!!

No tables, no chairs, couldn’t buy a bottle of their wares or a glass of beer for that matter (samples only). Growlers were on offer though .

Good beer and um... a unique experience .

Sweet!

Owner said the transmission was no better than a Smarts . Also said he’d had 12 imported cars including a Golf Country.

Man I love Storm. I don’t have their beer very often, mainly due to the whole not canning or bottling thing, but we’ve gone to their tap takeover of St Augustine’s twice now, and it’s great. The brewery is definitely a unique experience.

I only just started going. It is good beer. Loved their Cucumber Jalapeno Ale.

Our next stop was Biercraft for some grub. They had Storms Pineapple on tap.

I saw the wolf pic and thought you were being funny about “Lupo” . But sure enough, there’s the VW at the end...

When they do them, their lambics are very good. They also have a basil IPA that’s one of my favourites

On the other side of the coin, a few weeks ago they did a W atercress . Not sure if it had started to go “ off” before it was brewed but it wasn’t just the worst beer I’ve ever had, but it was right up there with bad lamb a s the worst thing I’d ever consumed (I can still taste it) . Yet, given the other quality brews I tried, I still went back.

If rats looked like that, I’m pretty sure we would have colonized Mars by now, just to get away.

A Golf COuntry I can understand, it being >25 years old and all. That Lupo though. Can you even register it? Other than its fuel consumption it isn’t a very interesting car either.

We have a 15 year law in Canada. Some of the details that assist in the fuel economy are very interesting . A luminum and magnesium alloys for doors, hood , rear hatch, seat frames, engine block, wheels, suspension system etc. A door ding here in Canada would surely lead to a total write- off .

Rear drums are aluminium, and LOVE to get warped if not driven gingerly!

All that weight reduction also made them quite tailhappy. Meanwhile a Citroen AX Diesel achieves roughly the same real world mileage with none of the Lupo’s headaches and a decent manual transmission.

Reviewers at the time did find them fun. How can a 975kg car not be?

The Lupo in general is a decent driving car, but an AX is way lighter and thus better at just 840kg for the heaviest model, which was not only a five-door but also had 4WD. It does feel more like a  cardboard box compared to the VW tho.
