Very, very, very bad here. That thing that looks like a red moon is the sun. You can actually see particulate matter circling in the air. Can’t see two blocks in any direction. They’re saying to not even go outside until Thursday.

So, it’s like a snow day? If your car has a good cabin filter it might be the best air you can get for a while.

From the BC fires I assume.

We hit 380 on the air quality index yesterday. It was bad . Now we’re down in the 150 range so it’s tolerable. I feel for the folks in Wenatchee where is was 450. That’s insane.

It’s worse here, Vancouver has the worst air quality (by far) in North America today

My lungs are burning just looking at that photo

Yeah, we have a merv 16 rated filter t. Air outside is nasty and the difference between inside our house and out is remarkable.

Isn’t it fun? Having half the province on fire, again, is just great. I love being able to taste the air.

We have ash/particulates in Bellevue too. This stinks (figuratively and literally), as this would be a lovely 85F sunny day without the smoke.

I had to abandon wrenching in a garage that had the doors closed. Now, I’m admittedly a wimp but I don’t know if anyone would have lasted in that shit.

It’s bad here too. You can see the ash in the air.

Looks like when I was China a few years ago (500 iirc).
My eyes hurt after 30 minutes.

No thank you. That was as bad as I want to experience.

Jesus. Australia is seeing some crazy fires too right now. Not as bad - but bloody hell, it’s WINTER

First time driving with the top up in months. I'm inside, but still can't get that ashy taste out of my mouth

yeah... been hacking up a lung all day. Getting some ash on the car now too. But the bright red sun this morning was crazy - it looked like a movie.

It actually has cleared out really well in Montana for the time being. What a relief. There was ash falling from the sky yesterday.

Portland is getting pretty smokey too. I really hope it doesn't get as bad as last year when the gorge was on fire. There were ash drifts (like snow drifts, but not snow) on the ramp at the airport.

My beloved is currently part of the mob dealing with a big fire west of Bega in southern NSW...she said the fire was still moving well, even in ferny gullies, deep in the night when the air temperature was as low as 8 degrees centigrade. They were standing near the thing just to keep warm.
We are so fucked when summer comes along...

This is unreal. I should have took pictures. We were outside briefly this afternoon and it started raining ash on us. Two hours later the smoke was so thick, cloud-like, and so much ash was falling that you’d think the fire was close enough that we should be evacuating. I noticed the sun, too.
It also falls to the ground and gets thicker in the evening. I’m feeling/smelling it even indoors and can’t find any source of real relief, even with my air filters, A/C (with a MERV 15 filter), and having kept everything closed up tight for days now.

This was Saturday here. I spent a half-hour outside wrenching before developing smoker’s cough.
It’s been tons better the last couple days, but still not great. The last couple weeks have been pretty rough.

Seattle hasn’t been too bad, but over in Eastern WA we couldn’t see much further than the yard across the street, and we were pretty damn far from the big fires

Suddenly our 123 degree heat index doesn’t seem so bad. You can’t have a forest fire if there isn’t anything to burn [eddiemurphy.png]. For real though, this has been one of out wettest summers in years, which is weird seeing as it was one of our driest winters on top of our hottest summer. Arizona would be an inferno right now if it weren’t for this year’s monsoon.

I work 3 blocks from Puget Sound in a building tall enough to have an unobstructed view . I could not see the water this afternoon.
Also I have a detail scheduled for my black car tomorrow because I am dumb . There is visible haze and airborne ash in the underground parking garage the detail shop is in —it literally won’t be fully clean and ash-free for 1 minute.

I’m sure they have all manner of samey Porsches that are worth almost as much because they’re the ONLY one to come with that PARTICULAR combination of 6-cylinder engine and factory stripes. Burn those

I hear it’s actually clearing up a bit at home i n Kamloops. Back in the high 300s after going up around 450 for a week. Haven’t verified as we bugged out on vacay through the worst of it .
