I have just transported 10' conduit in the Galaxie with the trunk closed. Over the spare, rear seat cushion laid flat, over the front seat. 12' would have fit too.

I also had a chance to use the old time bumper jack, because I had a low tire. Huzzah.

Didn’t know they had folding rear seats that old, neat. I’ve transported 11' boards in a 1st gen S tratus with the trunk closed, I believe 12' is just a hair too long, though playing around with the passenger seat positioning and angling the boards may get it there.  Cab Forward FTW.

It technically doesn't, but the cardboard that divides compartments is not any good, and the cushion sort of clips in place, so it's easy to pop out and lay flat. The wagon seats might have folded, I don't know. Senior Nash cars actually advertised fold-flat front and rear seats that were a bed, as far back as (iirc) the late 40s.
