Still too much for anything made by Goodyear.

It’s very possible goodyear in Europe
is much better than goodyear in the USA. We look at Michelin and Continental and premium brands...

Perhaps. I’ve had Eagle F1 AS3s on my last two cars and I wouldn’t have anything else. They’re superb for our shitty weather changes - great in the dry and good in the wet, especially standing water. Bloody terrible in the snow though!

I’ll take Goodyear tires over Bridgestone, Firestone and Chinese knockoff brands like ‘Goodride’.

Somewhere, in the dark corner of the Goodyear office, an intern is smiling - he got away with it.

I did get about 60k miles on a set, and still had @1/3 of the treadlife left. Though i never drove on them in the winter, which they sould poorly rated.

Unless specified by OEM (like specific performance tires, and even then I’d shop around), I’d take Bridgestone & Firestone over goodyear, and even other brands before goodyear.
It’s nothing against goodyear (mostly, but the R159 thing hasn’t improved their image), it’s just that
nothing they make is compelling enough over a competitor’s offering to make it appealing to me, especially for what they charge, and I’ve seen far too many GY products that seem to prematurely age (mostly the passenger tires) or wear oddly (Wrangler SR-As come
to mind) to make them recommendable.
If I want a non-commercial truck/SUV tire for how I and most owners tend to drive, I’m getting and recommending the Bridgestone Dueler HL Alenza Plus (which - true to my word - I bought a few months ago for my XC90 and am beyond satisfied with ), but would also consider/recommend Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus and Yokohama Geolandar; the Wrangler Fortera just isn’t that impressive . If doing more off-roading bit still a fair amount of on-road driving, the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo3 is damn good, though the BFGoodrich KO2s that come on the Raptor have a very good reputation, and I don’t even care for BFG/Michelin (same company) that much. Firestone and other brands have good offerings in both categories, but for the monetary difference, it’s oddly hard to justify spending less - which is odd for me to say as I tend to be fairly miserly, but tires are one thing I don’t skimp on, as they’re such a critical component of so many vehicular characteristics.
If I’m getting/recommending
a non-sporty passenger tire, it’s probably going to be a Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus, though the Pirelli and Yokohama offerings are also quite appealing, as are some others too numerous to name
. Sporty car tires would again go to the Bridgestone Potenza series, but again, Pirelli, Yokohama, Firestone
and others have good offerings here that I’m more familiar with
.

Curious about that: What was the condition of the tread and sidewall, though? I see more Assurances get retired (ha ha) due to cracking and dry-rot than I seem to for wear.

No dry rot that I noticed. I do about 18-20k a year mostly highway, (and using winter) i did all those miles in 5 years. Is the dry rot on high miliage or age?
tread was even, though I ussually always am good about rotating.
