As I was driving down a country road en route to my wedding, a piece of gravel kicked up by an oncoming pickup chipped my windshield. On the honeymoon, I wiped it down and was immediately rewarded with a top-to-bottom crack, appearing to have propagated from the ~3mm chip. I knew this was a possibility, but I figured since it wasn’t terribly hot (80F) or sunny out it would be fine :(
Using windex probably didn’t help; I imagine it evaporates and cools the hot glass more rapidly. Funnily enough, while I was out of town, one of my drivers had the exact same thing happen.
