“I think we got away with that one”

I remember around 1993-4 when everyone’s moms opted for the extra cash for the “gold package” for all the gold badging for their ES300.
It was much nicer than the ES250 that they almost bought a couple years earlier, but didn’t quite trust the Lexus name yet...

It looks good ... now paint the wheels to match.

Ma kes a huge difference. That car is great. I am not a fan of the black on black on black on black on black look so anything to break it up a little should help.
Unless you like all that black and then you should keep it that way.

Yep...I just didn’t remember ever seeing it before the ES300. Of course, gold was still somewhat in fashion back then, so I can’t explain the later iterations. :D

I like how behind the Lexus logo there is the mold for the original altezza badge.

I was wondering if people would pick up on that.

Yeah black on black on black on black is pretty awful. I’m glad the wheels are a bronzy gunmetal.

The RSX TYPE-S that my cousin just night had Gold Acura bashes. On a grey car too. Not a good look

colour is a good addition.
might I suggest several light coats of spray paint. you got some big drips on there. Light coats also makes the colour more vibrant as the thicker coat loses some of the pizzazz in the liquidity of it

Those drips were there from the previous crappy black paint job I didn’t bother to sand down. I’m going to get a new badge eventually. I did 4 light coats and two heavier ones.

The “Gold Package” was on everything in that era:
IIRC the Dodge Spirit/Plymouth Acclaim started doing it in 1992.

My parents actually passed on a really nice 2000-something Avalon, exclusively due to it having the gold package. My mom despised the badges. They got a less-nice one without said package. Then got rid of it when the janky, overbearing traction control nearly killed them a couple times.
