I’m not an artist or designer, but every car where the bumper does NOT clearly cut across the grille (leaving space for a plate, etc) messes with my head. Not only is an obvious bumper functional, it visually breaks up the top and bottom half of the car.

Lexus is the worst offender, obviously, followed by Audi.
