Cobalt recently failed emissions with a misfire in cylinder 4. turns out we arent getting any compression. so looks like im in the market for a new-to-me car. Ill tell you what though, my cars.com saved cars list is probably one of the weirdest gathering of cars ever. i have 2 focuses (foci?), one of them being an ST, a Colorado before the redesign, a high mileage G8 GT, a Titan Pro 4X, a F150, and 3 Expeditions, one of them being a lifted ex-government truck with agressive tires and only 5 seats which is pretty cool. im kinda leaning towards the blue focus or the blue expedition personally

Doesn’t that Focus have the dicky DCT transmission? Might want to do research on that. My brother leased one, and dumped it quickly.

Yup, was just about to post the same thing - auto Focuses of that gen with the DCT are not a good idea as the trans is garbage.

That is a rather eclectic mix of stuff. Might I suggest going more mainstream and getting a car that should last you a long time. Like an Accord or Camry. There’s a reason there’s so many of them on the roads. They just keep on running.

Yup, I would have preferred the miles on that other V6 version myself. Have you considered increasing your search radius?
Any other examples in a 200 mile area? It’s only a 4 hour drive give or take.

Focus ST all day long, much better than the NA focus with a DCT sucks transmission.

yeah but im going to have to use my cobalt as a trade in, down to three cylinders and expired plates so i dont want to drive it too far especially cause im still on probation from my 92 in a 55 speeding ticket last september lol

Might I suggest the newer Cru ze hatchback? 2017s for u pper $teens with low miles. Other people think the interior was a step back, but I like it. It would be towards the top of my list for an economical daily driver.

That Expedition is pretty cool, and I’m usually one to side with smaller, more traditional cars. It’s nice to actually see a Ford emblem on it, too; most Ford trucks seem to have a logo that faded to a silver oval.

I have a friend with one and he has had it for 4 years with no issues. IIRC the Focus ST is basically a newer version of the Mazda 2.3L MZR direct injection turbo and has been around since the mid 2000's .

The only MK3 Focus maintenance you should be worried about is replacing DCT tran smissions and TCMs (I daily a MK1 and see lots of posts on focus groups dealing with them)

I’ll get flailed for this probably, but avoid the FoST like the plague. On every ST page I’m on, there is a blown engine every week. Honestly, just avoid the ST in general. I mean, I like mine, it’s fun, but it needs way more attention than any new car should.

lol well my dad just offered me his 250K mile hona ridgeline for 1200 bucks...which is still about 3K under bluebook somehow. so i might take that then flip it as a down payment for the blue expedition lol

Lol hey I'm happy for the help. I just don't know if it'll be needed. The cobalt is currently in the shop seeing what it would take to get fixed and depending on how bad it is my dad is willing to sell me his Ridgeline for less than half the bluebook value. But I'll keep you in mind haha
