R emainin g Focus ST inventory is STILL dirt cheap. ST2 equipped cars (black leather  recaros + sound system) can be had for 23k. Base models are still under 20.

I soooo wanted one of these, but the insurance rates in San Diego were too much. Strangely, GTIs were cheaper.

I came real close. It was a good time to buy the ST, but a horrible time to trade in the Civic. Couldn't get as close as we wanted, and for how apart the trade in and the price were, my wife said "you could just go on Craigslist and get a Miata for less than that." So, I joined the Miata cult instead of the ST cult.

I traded in my FiST in the month between the focus ST being discounted and the FiST getting the same discount. I went from being something like 5 grand positive in the deal (after taxes and trade my loan was like 17k?) To potentially being maybe only a grand or two positive cause I had a first year FiST I drove the wheels off of and was way out of warranty.

It' s still not always enough to make the deal work for you, but yeah I hope this gets more people in FoSTs

Weird. In Michigan, land of the criopiling insurance rate, GTIs rake you over the coals but I saved money on insurance by going from a F iST to a FoST

See now I just scheduled a test drive tomorrow during lunch. You made me curious about the local dealer and lo and behold they still have a new 2017. I used to have a 2013 Focus hatch that I put 120,000 miles on in two and a half years, that I like well enough. Wonder if I could get them down to 16.5?

This is your regularly-scheduled response: They’re still on the lot because they these trim levels are undesirable .

That said, I like the ST2 seats more than the ST3 seats because they’re more fitting with the style of the car and grippier on your butt.

Holy hell that is so cheap for that car haha. I really love the FOST, it’s definitely a strong contender if I ever run into financially unsustainable reliability problems with my STi. Not that newer fords have really proven reliable, but the FOST just seems like fun. I'd still debate between a FOST and a MS3 but I'd probably be able to find the Ford cleaner for less money.

What’s sadder is all the lots sitting on RSs waiting for some sucker to fork over more than MSRP. They ruined the market and kept them from moving, so fewer were sold and fewer were built.
