im going to assume the weather being a freak is at least in part to blame for this..

between the heat, drought and months worth of rain in a couple hours its playing merry hell on infrastructure

This bridge is a bit different too, as it is prestressed concrete rather than a traditional cable-stayed bridge. Same designer had another similar bridge collapse in Venezuela in the 60s when it was hit by a tanker. I guess there was a crane on the bridge and a crazy storm, so it will probably be a while for the experts to sort out what happened.
