Both taillights decided to stop work ing? How has your 128i treated you in terms of reliability/maintenance otherwise? I’m actively looking for one in the same spec (sport package, slicktop, nothing else).

Yeah, both of them. Apparently it’s a very common problem. Otherwise it’s been 50,000 miles of mostly trouble free ownership

Good to know it’s been good to you, as I’d hoped it would be. I’ve spent entirely too much time reading about them lately (admittedly, mostly STX autoX prep), but I hadn’t come across that issue. Is it the lamp assemblies failing in some way or is it a deeper wiring/electrical fault?

It's the LED light drivers that tend to fail.

They just straight up stopped working. Brake lights, turn signals, back up and licence plate lights all still work. Just the LED tail lights are out.
