Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley did the Leadville 100 today. I know Mark has done it a couple times before (found out accidentally when I was there spectating once) but so much respect to both of them. Just thinking of that race makes me want to puke.
I’m headed to Leadville tomorrow because I stupidly agreed to pace someone for part of the 100 run and I need to know how bad tha t’ll be. Gonna try not to go all fan girl if these two are still around but I may or may not be packing my Toro Rosso hoodie.

That would be more impressive if it were a full Ironman instead of a half. Still badass though

Anyone who can do that at any age is in great shape and therefore impressive to me.

Didn’t realize this was a contest?
I’m surprised Red Bull/STR let Brendon do it from a safety perspective . Then again, Marko might’ve been hoping he wrecked.

I just can’t process the altitude. I live in CO and still can’t function at 12,000 feet, so I’m in awe of anyone who can successfully race at it.
Another guy who’s done that race for almost 20 years (fatcyclist.com) did the Breck Epic stage race last week first...and he’s just a guy. Not a professional athlete of any sort, just some guy in his 50s. He finished 5 minutes behind Brendon.

Mark Webber has been an avid cyclist for a long time and it’s awesome to see him do a monument like Ledville. I’d go fan boi on him to!

I once spent a weekend in Breckenridge with a head cold. I came to understand why there were oxygen stores like Starbucks everywhere.
