Almost a year after getting rearended and deemed totaled/salvage by the insurance company the Evo is recertified and back on the road. Got the plates on Friday and took it out and about to run errands today. Even had someone compliment the car at the gas station. Makes me very happy.
Now that the Evo is not my wife’s DD it may be time to look at some tasteful mods. It is still stock (still has the original clutch!).

I love the blue. Of the colors that were available it is by far my favorite. I love colorful cars to begin with. There are too many silver, beige, black and white cares out there.

EVO > STI

It’s now complete. Every Evo made is now horribly modded or salvage titled

I love a gas station compliment. A young scruffy guy said “Nice Jag” to me when I was filling my XJ6 for the first time 5 minutes after picking it up. Put my mind at ease a little, was thinking GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE.

dont mod it, even with the accident history an unmodded example will bring a mint in a few years

YAYYYYY!! Always loved Evos, so it’s great to see your beloved back on the road! :)

Don’t make irreversible mods more importantly. Bolt on stuff and simple tunes can always be undone. I eventually plan to at least put an exhaust on my STi and would probably consider a mild tune. But doing extensive exhaust work, swapping turbos, doing all sorts of other shit; never a good idea. But yeah stock will command more money for sure.

I love evos! They are for people who thought the STi didn't have enough character and was too reliable lol. How many miles do you have on it? I'd love to try out an Evo some day to compare it to my STi. But it's next to impossible to find a somewhat clean, unmolested one. I don't think I've EVER actually seen an unmodified Evo in real life.

I agree.

It has 174K on it and has been perfectly reliable over 15 years. Only light maintenance required. Original clutch. It is amazing how well they do when driven by an adult.

Yeah. If I knew then what I know now I would never have let them total it. It only took about $2k in Work to get it back on the road. Live and learn.

Both are great, but I tend to agree.

I’m so happy for you to have it back in shape. Great blue too. A real eye catcher.

Opinions dont matter. This is a fact right here

uhhhh no one thinks Sti is reliable compared to an Evo....
Evos stock everything can actually take power and wont blow headgaskets or ringlands...

Exhaust, better intake, manual boost controller and a dyno tune and you will have lots of fun
![]() 08/11/2018 at 18:25 |

Yeah, it doesn’t take much.

I think you got your JDM rally cars backwards. The EVO is supposed to be the reliable one with less character. And I say that as a member of Team Blue.

never realized just how clean/uncluttled the EVO dash was. neat. (literally)
