I’m sure you’ll be fine. Lightning rarely strikes the same place twice.

TSA, on the other hand? Oh baby! Might as well just show up beltless and barefoot.

luckily only the thief was onboard, and if the crash site location is what it seems to be, there’s not many homes in the area (island with a few homes, but it’s mostly woods).

This is the most bananas thing to happen since a disgruntled former FedEx employee tried to take down a A-300 with a speargun

And because it is 2018, we have video

This is obviously a disgruntled Boeing employee trying to sully Bombardier’s reputation by crashing one. Don’t believe the Fake News Media people. I’ve got sources, very smart sources, people tell me they’re very smart people.

I believe the FedEx event was a DC-10. Then again, I have a track record of saying stupid stuff today, so I could be entirely wrong.

Ground crew personnel (as this man was) have to be taught how to start the planes so they can do so to move them around on the ground. One of my first jobs was as a ramp agent. Every night we would store three planes in the remote overnight storage area of the airport. We would tow it over with the tug, of course, but there needs to be a member of the ground crew in the cockpit ready to deploy brakes or do other emergency actions in case something happened with the tow and the plane broke free. Those controls only work if the plane is “on.” Not the actual engines, but the APU and other systems. And once you’re that far starting the engines themselves is a snap.

I loved that job, but the pay was garbage. Started at $9.25/hr, and out of that I had to pay union dues.

Can’t say as I blame you!

When my grandma was a kid she and her brother were jumping on their living room sofa when the house was struck by lightning. As it was told to me, the lightning came through the leaded glass picture window and hit the sofa, presumably due to the metal coils, but who knows. She and her brother were apparently sent flying across the room and suffered both burns as well as a lifelong fear of thunder and lightning. I was told that at a young age I tried to convince her to hide in the closet during a thunderstorm because she was so terrified. Scary thing to experience, I can imagine.
