Looking at press photos of the 2019 Forester, t
ake a close look at the rear bumper cover...
The area that mirrors the exhaust tip looks to be a separate piece, doesn’t it?
Now, there could be a variety of reasons for this, but Subaru has been doing this recently so they could use the same rear bumper cover for the 2.5i and XT in the case of the Forester and the 2.5i and 3.6R in the case of the Legacy and Outback. I’m not saying anything, but...
...I’ll be waiting for the replacement parts catalog to go online for more details
...

Nothing is confirmed yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they didn’t add an 2.4 XT at some point. More relevant to my interests - do we know the bolt pattern yet? I’d love the wheels from the new 2.5i Sport on my 2014 if they are still 5x100. The Outback and WRX have moved to 5x114.5 so I’m not holding out too much hope though.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but it looks suspiciously like 5X114.3 like the Outback and WRX. (
I believe you can zoom into these pictures still
).
The Impreza/Crosstrek is still 5X100 for reference:

Good place to put the tow hook behind

Except, Subaru almost always uses a removable tow hook for the rear, and the removable cover
in the bumper for it
exists right above the area in question.

Since it’s only going to be available with a CVT...I don’t really care about its exhaust tip potential.
When our 1st Gen Forester meets its natural end (ie. when our son no longer fits in the back seat) then the Isuzu MU-X is probably going to replace it. Because it still comes with a manual gearbox. Seaya Subaru...

Subaru said no xt, and they might release one later but a Forester 3.6R might be kinda neat.

Can’t focus on the exhaust area, too distracted by the godawful taillights

It’s more about what could be attached to those exhaust tips.
Fair point, Subarus have definitely changed over the years.

That would be neat, but my suspicion is that the 3.6R will go away when the current Legacy and Outback are done.

The CVT in my wife’s Impreza that we just traded in for a CX-5 never really bothered me. The Impreza was certainly slow, but I actually felt like the CVT was handy for getting something resembling acceptable acceleration out of it in situations like merging on to a highway.

Do the exhaust flip for countries where the wheel is on the right side?

Not bothering me in a car that isn’t my primary vehicle and being something that I want in my vehicle are two very different criteria.

This felt very click-bait-ish, I did not find it interesting. You know what is interesting? The fact anyone is buying a Subaru considering they don’t produce anything exciting other than a WRX (STi) and even that isn’t as interesting as its predecessors!

Subaru said no XT...what if they’re just gonna blind side us all with a new Forester STI?

I couldn’t believe this was the new Forester. It looks
like a small SUV released a few years ago in a developing country.

Oh... so nothing that will improve the performance in any way... that's ok then.
