Kinja'd!!!

I don’t pay much attention to Daimler-Chrysler Chrysler vehicles, except for the occasional SRT-8 300C, SRT-6 Crossfire, or PT Cruiser Turbo. But sometimes, I do give them a passing glance, and I see a small rectangular badge on the front fender that says, “W.P. Chrysler Signature Series.”

Kinja'd!!!

While most special editions I understand, this one I just can’t wrap my head around. Most of these Chryslers that wear the Signature Series badge seem like base models at most, nothing interesting about the paint or packaging at all. Does anyone know what the Chrysler Signature Series is all about? Is there more to them than meets the eye?

They’re long wheelbase. Tray tables in the back too.

They bundled a lot of popular options (navigation, sunroof, etc) for no extra charge as a celebration of the company’s heritage.

I think some of them also had unique color options. Which is silly because Chryslers always look best in black.

Maybe in the case of the 300, but a LWB PT Cruiser?

If it couldn’t save Chrysler, I don’t see how it could save anyone.

Owned one, a 300 in the Magnesium Pearl. Loved that car until its demise.

No, those were just called the 300 Long Wheelbase, and came in base and 300C versions. The Walter P. Chrysler Signature Series was just a package of commonly ordered options offered at a discounted price, with special upholstery, paint, and badges.

This was during the period when DaimlerChrysler was still making a half assed attempt to return Chrysler to premium status, in between Dodge and Mercedes-Benz. Playing up their heritage and doing a classy-sounding special edition was supposed to be part of that.

There was a 300C Heritage Edition that also came out around the same time that basically consisted of Red/White/Blue badges and special emblems embroidered on the seats. I think they had special RWB colors too.

They really did try, and they almost convinced me at the time.

I just found out that the LWB was actually called the WP Chrysler Executive  series.

If they had spent just a little more money on quality interior materials and better fit and finish/quality control, they might have pulled it off. But Daimler wasn’t interested in writing those checks.

Oops, didn’t even notice it said Signature. I’ve actually seen like 10  of the LWB ones, they look nice imo.

I think it was a bump in horsepower and torque as well. Funny enough, I was just doing a bit of research today on replacing a timing belt on a 3.5L and came across info for the signature series.

Those also had the SRT seats in them, which were very nice.
