Some aren’t. Cabriolet rubber seals are extra not cheap. This is JUST the smoker window seals. A full window seal kit is about 2 grand.
In contrast I can rebuild my entire steering system from wheel to outter tie rod ends for about 300 bucks, which I plan on doing.

I’m not really taunting you, because I still consider this to be a bit spendy and I’m going to have to get them.
More expensive than the windshield seal and rear window seal I also need.

Problem Solved.

Dang thats spendy, but at least you can point to that purchase and say “I need that so water doesn’t come into my car”
I’ve been delaying buying this simple part for a while now because I can’t bring myself to part with so much money for something I could probably make myself.

What the heck is that?

That’s a bit harder with glass that moves

The film that goes under the PRND321 label on the gear shift selector for the automatic transmission on a Range Rover Classic . The Green and red parts are backlit and light up to show you what gear you’re in.

Have you been to any salvage yards yet? Not sure how successful you would be for something on a car so old, especially a part that wears out/weathers like weather stripping. Worth a shot, though.

Oooh okay.

Wow. I t would be cheaper to drill some holes in the floor pan and just fiberglass the entire interior.

...why would I do that

It’s not the oldest.

You wouldn’t, unless you want to build a Cabrio-speedster .
But it would still probably be cheaper.

You didn’t say anything about keeping the function. Sometimes we must make difficult choices: moveable glass or no moisture inside the car.
You must choose.

Cabriolets in general seem to be a stupid instant “everything you need is 5x the cost” for parts that are cabrio-centric. Hell, the sunshades are black on the cabriolet escorts, not bland grey, which has led to people buying them for their normals. Even see some of the cosworth guys wanting to buy them...

That’s the site where I found the full kit

Does this help?
30 to 55 UK pounds each plus shipping and they are in stock.

Almost. I have a Rabbit not a Beetle. It’s “a whole three animal.” Hahahah

I’m not sure about the Golf convertible , but my 1987 Peugeot convertible has window seal issues as well (they all shrunk) and every junker I’ve seen has had the exact same issues.

Aha... so Mk1 Golf quarter vent seals then ?
https://www.vwheritage.com/171845261-front-quarter-window-plain-seal-vw-spare
... quite a bit cheaper at 27 quid.
Unless you want the reproduction handed versions which are 90 quid each!!

The price difference is opening/vent window versus fixed. My car has the opening windows which I love.
