I love sharks but I am so scared of them and I have a fear of deep, dark or murky water because of that (I know, I know the chances of a shark attack are infinitesimal )

Memory is funny, but what’s more amazing is that everything in the world is on YouTube. I’m 51 years old and I still laughed at that. God, those guys were brilliant.

If Twitter is the worst thing to happen to the internet, YouTube is it’s yang. It's rare that I can't find whatever obscure clip happens to pop into my head. I'm actually surprised when some random thing from 30+ years ago ISN'T able to be found. Must be one hell of a datacenter. They could keep the HDD manufacturers in business all by themselves.

Twitter and Facebook seem to be competing for being the worst thing to happen to the Internet, but I think Twitter is ‘winning’.
So true about YouTube though.

At least I know the whale can distinguish between me and a fish (or even a seal). A shark’s way to tell if something is food is to taste it, or sometimes just swallow it anyway.
My favorite man vs wild is where he’s escaping the desert island and sharks start circling his raft. It’s my favorite because it’s one of the only times I ever watched the show where he seemed legitimately terrified. I think the part is at 26:30

I wonder about Orcas. They definitely know what humans are, and I think they’re usually pretty picky about their food. Different “tribes” of orcas eat seals, or large whales, or fish as their primary food
source, and I don't think it necessarily is based on availability. Humans don't rate as prey, so orcas mostly interact with humans because of curiosity (AFAIK). All this is based on my quite possibly flawed recollection of Discovery specials and Wikipedia, so I may be wrong, but I think the only time a wild Orca would kill a random human it would be out of boredom.

I’m 40 so It’s probably been roughly 35 years since I last saw that but as soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew what clip it was.

“used”
Up to the 70s, t here used to be a bounty on seals. then after it was removed their population slowyly started rising. I still remem ber in the late 90s, e arly 200s when it would be neat to see a group of seals swim by. then when the great whites decided to stay every summer the novelty wore off.
