never thought i’d see the sleepy little town where me mum and a hundred or so others live on national news
bout 2 miles from her home.. local campsites had to be evacuated.. so far the firefighters are keeping the fire from traveling too much but struggling to put it out as the wind is picking up.
now cans wes has rain?
(eta) looks like the military is sending rain
cool
(update time) looks like the chinook saved the day.. everyones expected to be allowed to go back home in about an hour chinook still dumping water till then at least.
welcome to the dutch savanna :p
apparently they call the orange thing a bambi bucket
i think this pic is plenty oppo

The name of the town I read on nu.nl is quite appropriate for this situation.

firefighters saying they’re in control now, not allowing people to go back home yet tho

Fingers crossed that the winds keep the fires away from homes - especially your mum’s! And if they have it under control, that’s great!

thank you very much :)
looking good at mo nobody allowed home 21:00 is what they’re saying now
dropping bucket after bucket with the chinook to make sure it doesnt re ignite
(also from where it started it was almost certainly caused by someone flicking a cigarette from their car as that whole area is literally nothing but 1 road and tinderlike forest and fields)
