Vermilion Red metallic became an optional color when the E92/E93 got the LCI treatment for the 2011 model year. I’ve mentioned before that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ; consequently, I’ve been looking for BMWs with the color checked off in the options box. In my unnecessary car shopping, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , looking resplendent in Vermilion Red. Given the fact that I already own two manual BMWs, you can rest assured that this E93 is equipped with the preferential transmission.
I do like the decision someone made to put style 220Ms on the car.
However, I think they might have lowered it too much. Raise it up an inch or two and I would be on board.
For a shade under 10k, it really isn’t that bad of a price. If I was in the market for a car, I might be scheduling a PPI and then booking a flight. That said, I’ve bought 3 cars and had 0 PPIs done.

I mean, you already do, pretty much. Aren’t the 220s (and other M wheels) too wide for a normal E9x?

I think you need to have at least 3 to b considered a hoarder.
I don’t think they’re too wide. My 328i had 18x8.5s in the rear. I t’s possible they’re running a square set of 220Ms, as the fronts where 19x8.5s. Those should fit on all four corners.

CEL tattoo in 3....2....
That said...DAMN! I could only find whites when I was looking around, and the one I test drove was about to fall apart, but this. this is pretty.

I’ve put around 65000 miles on BMWs since I got one in 2014. Only had a total of 4 check engine lights. *knocks furiously on wood*
Yeah, this looks like a pretty well kept example. Have to see it in person to verify, but it does look the part.

That’s an impressive lack of sidewall

What I wouldn’t have given to find a saddle brown interior, though...

A lot if you also wanted Vermilion Red, as it wasn’t available . That said, give me Tasman Green with Saddle Brown please.

That’s pretty!! I may be biased though.

Wonder what size those tires are. Pictures aren’t clear enough to tell.

What is the official name of your paint?
Also this would be basically a 10 year newer version of your car!

Nice choice!
More cars need saddle brown interiors.

My heart sunk for a moment when I saw it was only $10 then I saw it was a basic 3 series...whew....
Still debating selling my E92 M3, but not just yet.

Must feel every crack in the road, until that one crack that causes a blowout

Single owner manual E92 M3 with the comp pack and a manual, still looking at decent money for it. Even with 70k on it, probably still north of 25k for private party.

I love the way the E93 looks. I especially love the look of an E93 with the top up and the windows down. That pillarless look is fantastic and the longer rear deck is great.
T heres only one thing I don’t like about the E93. The weight. I’m not at all surprised that it’ s heavy. But I can’t embrace the idea of a 2 ton vehicle of that size.
No t sure that would stop me from buying one if we were talking 3rd vehicle though.

I don’t like the way it looks with the roof up, roof down? That’s another story, I think they look fantastic.
They are heavy, more than 600 lbs heavier than my E92 and still more than 200 lbs heavier than my E90.
I agree with that, as a cruiser, the weight wouldn’t matter too much. Although, I’d rather have a drop top 650i.

Yeah- 3 series convertible, red metallic, beige leather, manual, base engine — that’s my car!
Mine is Siena Red Metallic. I * think* it’s got a little more brown in it than vermilion, but it’s fairly close.
Speaking of which, I think I want to replace it once I find a job. Hopefully soon!
![]() 08/07/2018 at 11:42 |

What would you replace it with? Something with an M on the back?

Eventually I’ll make a post looking for suggestions, but it would have to be a RWD convertible that’s fun to drive, preferably a manual, and probably a 20- 30k budget. So, Miata, Boxster, E93, and maybe a Camaro or Mustang with a V8 come to mind, but getting a 65 Cutlass is on the list too. We’ll see.
![]() 08/07/2018 at 11:48 |

Personally, I’d go for either a Boxster or an E93 M3, or maybe a 650i or something like that. Either way, not a bad problem to have.

Some of this is an excuse to go unnecessary car shopping. Having driven the Boxster, it’s very high on the list if I can get a good one in that price range- the more recent S models are above that, and that’s what I drove.
I would also prefer a back seat, which leads me toward the E93. I’m not a huge fan of the hardtop convertible though- the weight penalty is excessive.
But I tend to let the test drive sway me without much bias, so we will see!

You do need to collect more E9xs! Having multiples is fun!!!! Then one day we can do a crossover episode where I get an E90 and you get a smart.

Very sexy. Now you’ll need a wagon
![]() 08/07/2018 at 13:04 |

Are they really 4000bls? My AWD E90 is only 3500. Powered hard tops are heavy
![]() 08/07/2018 at 13:08 |

There is a massive weight penalty, that said the E93 328i I test drove didn’t feel like it weighted 4,000 lbs.
Like you said thought, need to test em and make a decision.

The test drives are the fun part! I’d like to at least check out the Camero SS and Mustang GT. And certainly the E93 M3 (I couldn’t see getting a 328 or 335, and not interested in the F30).

Yes. It's the motor for the hardtop and the additional strengthening necessary for the convertible conversion.

yes you are.
