A 1952 Landrover, so one of the earlier ones:

A 2017 Landrover and so one of the last (production actually stopped in Jan 2016 so somebody hoarded this one)

Kinja'd!!!

Apart from sharing no visible parts the later model has gained gears and lost all its spark plugs.

if the headlights were forward of the grill on the second one it would look 1000% better

I agree. That’s the Heritage Edition Defender, and the reason the grill sticks out is because of the A/C condenser. If they had done away with the A/C so the front mimiced the earlier Defender with the flush grill, I doubt it would’ve lessened the rush to buy them, and it would've made  it look a whole lot better in the process.

Fixt, because headlight spacing/visibility laws can GTFAC.

I like what’s going on with those wipers on the ‘52.

I suspect, but can’t say I’ve ever verified, that the clutch cylinder tower from one at end of production could be plunked onto the firewall of a ‘59. Just as a for-instance of one part that in some way survived a very long time - different piece, but I believe the bolt pattern and hole cutout were inherited from the SIII, which adopted a longer throw brake cutout hole but used a clutch tower dating back to the earliest SIIs...

There may also be a great deal of similarity to the under-sill floor-to-bucket brace, though I imagine Defenders are much bulkier.
