I think these and the 92-95 were peak Civic (just as the 90-93 and 94-97 might have been peak Accord).

To me 92-95 was it's ultimate form, then safety standards set in.

The first car that I bought with my own money (i.e. not the family car) was a 1990 Honda Accord EX Sedan with a 5 speed and power everything, including seat belts. I still miss that car.

Those things go forever in the no-rust west coast, just keep the timing belt serviced, and you are good to go.

Here in all-th e-rust Pennsylvania, they don't always last that long :-(

Still a daily sight out here, even the pop up light generation isn’t rare yet.

The 96-00 EK’s are good, too. They still had the double wishbones, and many EK parts shareable with the EG, and they were still lightweight. And of course, the EK is the base for the 94-01 Integra

And the early 90s seco nd-gen Integra is good, too.

Yup. I still want another 89-81 Hatch someday. The Rabbit is similar in a lot of ways but not quite the same. Being a convertible makes up for not being as fun to drive tho

All of those used to be very common here in western Europe too. The 96+ gen too. But at roughly the turn on the century Honda lost its mojo and sales plummeted. Now they’re a niche manufacturer, with cars you rarely see.

They used to be well priced sporty attractive reliable vehicles. Now they're just reliable. That's not enough to sell cars.

Sweet.

Dial it down to 55mm and get close enough to get the whole car in the frame, then use a big ap like f2.8 or f4 to g et you shortest dof where the car is in focus with the out of focus background.

Remember the rule of thirds, avoid straight on side and front shots, and if you can turn the wheels away from the camera so you don’t get straight on tire photos.

Also look for things on the background that are distracting - like signs, trees, or poles sticking out from behind your  cars.

Reliable is enough to sell in NA.

I think recently, Toyota has been more image-based (faux sport, reliability preaching) which lures in dull suburbanites who think their toaster with loud styling will make them cool and hip , while Honda is more subtle, relying on engineering heritage. Toyota may have a slightly more geriatric image, too.

Why go down to 55mm?

Yep, blew it there.. you want to back up and then zoom in.. that will give you a narrow depth of field and isolate the car from the background..

Suggestions are good though, this was basically my first 10 shots with a real camera. My attempt here was to get that look of a car photo, not so much background concerns. I like the way the larger lenses from a distance has less fisheye on the car.

I still need to figure out how to get into the cameras setting though.
