Got rear-ended by a hit and run driver today. He drove off as I was photographing his license plate. Glad I was suspicious and did not not just “turn down that side street to handle it” like he kept repeating yelling for me to do.
Sadly the police officer said his plate comes back as not valid.
My little purple car now has a couple big dents in the bumper and hatch , but I’ve already filed a claim.

People are just scum.
I hope they find the driver and your okay.

Post his picture on social media and Youtube, you will probably find someone who knows him.

Good thing you got a pic, sucks that it didnt help much ( what does not valid lincese plate mean anyway?) but I will always recommned everyone run a dashcam.

Have cops look for him, you have a perfectly clear picture of him. It could be on your local news or something.

The state is only 1212 square miles large. Drive around until you find him.

I searched his plates and they're registered to a '93 Impreza L Plus... Stolen or recently bought??

That sucks, fuck 90% of humanity.
At least your not hurt and have full coverage insurance.

Wow. Hit an run driver, no valid plates, I’m betting the truck’s stolen or not even registered.

He punched them into the computer in his cruiser and either no entry came up, or one that was clearly not an expedition (the cop didn’t say)

Some people freak out about license plate readers (and there are causes for concern), but I really like the idea of the police being notified anytime a car with expired/invalid plates, no insurance, etc. is spotted (though I don’t have great confidence that the police actually bother following up on those: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/12/boston-police-indefinitely-suspends-license-plate-reader-program/ )

Police report was filed, and cop was provided with copies of the pics.

That photo and license plate will be blood in the water for your insurance company. Let them feed.

I’m fine, just annoyed at the added hassle and possible deductible.

So that’s a picture of the guy?
![]() 08/04/2018 at 16:58 |

That is largely dependent on if the driver can be located. Rhode Island is small enough that the guy could easily skip town.

I work in TV news (in Utah) and I would definitely call your local media outlets. It’s a weekend and they’re usually looking for something to put on the air.

That sucks! I’m glad you’re not hurt. Hopefully they find him.

Yep. He was still playing that he was going to exchange info at that point.

Considering you have a picture of him, hopefully they can find the idiot...
![]() 08/04/2018 at 17:17 |

Yeah, that'll happen.

Well it is Rhode Island...

Obviously he’ll have to reach out to the news station, probably wasn't clear enough.

The insurance companies are wolves. He can run to a small town, but he cannot survive there.

But wolves don’t hunt in the water , and can’t sense blood that way.
A What kinda crazy hybrid creature are you thinking about??
