Video taken by a passenger onboard Aeromexico Flight 2431. Look at how the air outside turns from rain to seething mist. Must have been one hell of a wind, perhaps a microburst? And once it hit, it just seemed to keep going and going and going.

Watching this while waiting to board a flight from Honolulu to Kauai. That sideways rain looks like the microbursts we get in AZ during monsoons season. The storm the other night sounded like birds were hittinnmy windows thebrain was so perpendicular. Goes from sunny and hot to cool, windy and pouring in a matter of minutes.

It’s like the rain turns to aerosol.

I’m sure the crew was too busy trying to fly the plane. Or too bush shitting their pants. It’s easy to say in hindsight that they never should have taken off. But I’ve got to wonder what was going on in their heads when they decided to go.

My principal guess would be lack of Doppler radar support at the aeropuerta. Might have looked like your standard issue mucky weather and might've been a location given to mucky weather.
