They must have checked the auto box instead of racing stripe on accident.
S hould be fun to drive anyways.

On Autotrader, there are currently 1179 manue l Miatas and 903 automatics (of 2231 Miatae listed total). I sometimes forget you could get any Miata with an auto. An Abarth with one makes about as much sense as a GTI with an auto, so, a lot.

It was a good run.

Oh wait, it’s an Abarth.
Re-hired!

At least the auto option isn’t the performance crushing looser option it used to be. Its not the right choice, but at least you won’t suffer as much as you used to by choosing poorly.
![]() 07/31/2018 at 15:18 |

That’s why I didn’t know it came in an auto!

Between the noises being on the pipe makes and how big the tank is, I’m expecting to have to put fuel in it within the next 4 days I’m here.

If it wasn’t an Abarth I’d understand but I want a manual wit my real fun noises!

I believe they make the automatic for people who only have full use of one leg/arm.

Fortunately I have use of all four/want a manual but that’s good on FCA/Mazda for doing that.

Went to a dealer to test drive a G iulia, got to talking about how Alfa didn’t offer it with a manual. The salesman basically said that Alfa would always convert at cancel at least one or two dealer ordered manuals and send autos instead.

Well with press cars, beggars can’t be choosers. I’ve given up on trying to understand the choices of others. If someone wants an automatic version of a car that’s much better as a manual, that’s their business. It only bothers me when those choice impact me as higher used prices for manuals or when manufacturers don’t offer a manual option.

Haha yeah I understand that.
As an ISF owner I also understand the second part.

Yeah I think they can only sell the Auto in the US so Alfa would have to.
![]() 07/31/2018 at 15:39 |

Oh, I meant to say they’d convert some of their 124 orders to autos, even if they only ordered manuals.
If they sold the Giulia here with a stick, I would be so tempted.

Ahh gotcha. I’d own one if they had it in a manual(or at least own it).

I’d own a 40k stripper with a manual in a heartbeat. No wait, lease it.

I test drove a 124 Abarth last year. What I didn’t mention in that post was it was an auto, and I tried the manual in a lower trim, like a Lusso or whatever it’s called. In both of them, I couldn’t get the seat to recline enough for my liking. Even if I slid it forward, it wouldn’t recline any further.
I assumed this was a feature of the ND platform in general, but this weekend my wife and I checked out a CX-5 and I sat in an ND in the showroom. Lo and behold, when I slid the seat forward, it reclined more.
Hey, if my wife gets that CX-5, ma ybe that means I should get a 2019 ND with the hp bump since practicality will be handled by her car.
Oh wait, I just remembered my usual drive home from work...
(This is the most optimistic travel estimate sign IN THE WORLD. )

Luckily my commute isn’t as bad as some, but it was still enough to scare me off of owning a manual as a DD. Hoping someone gives me a manual car so i can experiment for a week.

My 335xi is a stick but if I’m being honest with myself, whatever my next car is will probably not be if I still have this commute. It’s fine in the morning but at night it takes me about an hour to go the 15 miles home.
Right now the two ideas I have for my next car are either a Hyundai Veloster N once they come out with the DCT version, or a JDM Toyota Aristo with the 2JZ-GTE.
![]() 07/31/2018 at 15:53 |

ARISTO! Scratch that. Get a Century!
![]() 07/31/2018 at 16:36 |

I tell myself an Aristo would be relatively easy to maintain here in the US since its body and drivetrain were both sold here in two separate cars. Japanese Classics seems to be getting them in the $12-15k range and they’re only about 125 miles from me.
But I’m unsure of whether it’s a wise idea for a DD. RHD would make swiping my badge to get in and out of the garage at work *interesting*.
Also, I can see the look on my wife’s face now when I tell her I want us to drive 2.5 hours each way from DC to Richmond and back to pick up a 25 year old car that’s a version of something sold here, but with a hot rod motor and the steering wheel on the wrong side.
![]() 07/31/2018 at 16:47 |

Because race forbidden car. Don’t worry, trying to explain to my wife why I really neeeed a Century has about the same reaction.

That is just such a good looking car. They even got a good Sliver. That is all I have to say.
![]() 07/31/2018 at 17:37 |

I’m realllly getting antsy to go drive it. As I said I wish it had the racing strip and manual but it seems like its just going to be a ton of fun. The silver is also near platinum and looks shaaarrp.

I actually didn’t know the Abarth even came with an auto. In the Lusso trim, it kind of makes sense, for people that just want a semi luxed-up topless cruiser.
I would assume they may be an even better value, post depreciation, than the manuals, since most people looking for an Abarth are going to be looking for manuals.

That’s what mine used to look like, now it looks like this.

She might actually go for it since it's not hugely expensive. My dad however would be like "what the hell are you doing?" I can live with that.
