These look to be the cheapest all-season option for my Miata that is a reputable brand. Anyone have experience with these? Handling, road noise, etc?

Walmart has those for $67/tire.

They came on my Miata from the previous owner, who had two miatas. I don't have anything else to compare them to, really, but i have no complaints at all about them. Would consider buying again

BFG Comp 2 A/S and General G-MAX AS-05 aren't much more in that size and would be a pretty big upgrade.

They look alot like the toyo’s on my subaru, I would personally get something more summer oriented with big shoulder blocks.

Got them on my wife’s car. Not complaints, but they are hardly used to hard driving

I need something cheap that can do snow and ice semi-competently without having to store a second set of wheels and tires.

S
eems like a good candidate for the miata.

That’s the thought.

Just put them on my vibe, great tires, quiet, and ride really well (included during spirited driving). Can’t beat the price and they’re made in America.

Your requirements of having one set of wheels makes me mad lol. But such is life in a snow state and not having space, i get it. Have you considered doing 15s though? I know that would mean different wheels but I hate the stock 16 inch NB wheels, they look gargantuan. Tires are generally cheaper and easier to find too. The weight difference is astounding and just makes the car feel better to me, regardless of tire choice.

I rather like my stock 16s. If I could afford to buy another set of wheels the price of the tires wouldn’t be much of a consideration, lo l.
Most 15s won’t even fit around my brakes, so there’s that.

You have the OEM sport brakes right? I have not found a set 15 inch wheels that did not fit mine. It has never been an issue, even though tire rack swears that they will not fit. My issue is that they end up just looking like monster truck wheels just like on the NC. Something about big wheels in general is offputting to me. I do like your front splitter and hard top though!

It seems you’re only using one set of tires year-round and you actually get snow. For that purpose, consider an all-season with the 3-peak symbol.
There is a Canadian site called
1010
that has a couple such tires in your size 205/45-16. Shipping is $15/tire. There is no customs tax or import duty.
The first company to make an all-season tire that could pass the test to earn the 3-peak was Vredestein
. They make the
Quatrac 5
in your size.

I run them on my Mini. They may be marketed as all seasons but they are summer tires. Grip is non existant in snow. They are generally pretty quiet on the road but they squeal like a stabbed pig when you lean on them. Grip levels are low but they give up in a progressive manner and don't suddenly break free. All in all a good road tire but don't expect any real performance from them.

Better than near-bald RE71Rs in the snow, I would bet.

Everything is better than bald RE71Rs in the snow. What I'm saying is that there are better options for new tires that will see snow.

I had a very similar set on my S60 and while they rode nice, they seemed quite soft and wore very very quickly.
