First, I took my Dad’s 56 TBird out for a shakedown after installing a new carb. Some asshole in a Bro Truck was flying thru our neighborhood at 45 MPH, while looking at his phone. He drifted into the center of the street, and nearly hit me head-on. Thank God I already sorted the brakes. If he hadn’t heard my tires lockup, he might not of looked up in time to swerve and just barely miss me.
10 mins later I’m back home, and pull my vacuum gauge out to adjust the fuel mixture. I turn around and BANG! The drawers must of crept out, and I apparently put too much weight in those at the top. 1 inch to the left and it would of hit my 51 F1. A split sec on d sooner and it would of landed on the back of my ankles. Lesson learned! Weight distribution is important in more than just cars.

Oh crap! I didn’t even realize that I was looking at the top of a toolbox until I read what happened. I’ve had nightmares about that.

I never even thought about it tipping over. The drawers on the bottom are bigger, and so naturally have some heavy stuff in them. T he swivel wheels do n’t help. I’m think I’m going to add some washers to the front wheels, so it will ever so slightly tilt backwards. T hen maybe the drawers will close themselves , instead opening.
