Forgot to post the pics I took today.

Kinja'd!!!

Apparently these grooves being worn out means these pistons are junk. either way, gives me an excuse to replace em.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The shop said it looked like this one had been replaced. It didn’t have any grooves at all, so I am not sure how they were important in the first place. it was definitely non-matching though. makes me wonder.

Kinja'd!!!

Bearings were actually in O.K. shape all things considered. I don’t believe I will need any machining done on the crank or anything.

Kinja'd!!!

And finally, today

Kinja'd!!!

oof

Huh, I didn’t know that those were wear indicators. Neat.

Neither did I. I guess it’s not mission critical but it is indicative of contaminants or excessive use.

Those skirts don’t look too bad to me, but it’s hard to tell via pictures.

Even if you think the crank is ok you should send it out to be mic’ed up. If it doesn’t need to be turned it’d still be a good idea to polish the journals.

They didn’t look that bad to me either. but it is a good excuse to get high compression pistons, and I am not going to pull a j’accuse on my machinist over it.

I mean, clearly there’s some spots that had grooves that don’t anymore. Do I think that is really going to hurt something? perhaps?

I mean it’s at a machine shop so I assume they are going to check it, if they haven’t already.
