I researched the Volvo a bit....
There’s a turbo version.

They’re also quite light, something around 2200 lbs I want to say.

Is this a vehicle whose peculiar looks or specifications heighten the interest of the members of this forum?

THIS IS RELEVANT TO MY INTEREST

Not to those of us who remember the 480...

Nothing an LS swap can’t fix

I think these are really cool looking. If considered importing one, but it’s really hard to justify vs. a C30 which is vastly superior in just about every way other looks. I’d respect the hell out of someone who did bring one in though (or even just someone in Europe who keeps one in good shape).

This looks like a DD, manual. Not sure what was in for. Not sure if the wheels are original either. but it looks nice otherwise.
The cool thing about this place is that most cars are very old but with very low mileage. My merc has 25 k even if it’s 20 years old. That 993 I tested is under 60, and that Volvo might as well be under 70k. My cousin is about to buy a 325ci at around 20,000miles . from 2006!
It’s a very weird environment.

480? So is it an 8 cylinder?
![]() 07/24/2018 at 23:05 |

4 cy l?
![]() 07/24/2018 at 23:54 |

There was a time in Volvo’s history that the second number was the number of cylinders... I think. I guess this wasn’t part of that time.

absolutely

Oh yes it does

With one major difference; you can actually still find Volvo 480s. The Aerodecks all dissolved a long time ago. I have not seen one in many years and even on used car websites they're nowhere to be found.
![]() 07/25/2018 at 09:54 |

How is that even possible? They’re aren’t used for commuting I imagine?
![]() 07/25/2018 at 09:55 |

That era ended in the early 80s if I'm not mistaken. The 480 was introduced in the mid to late 80s.

Owned by emigrants. Those cars are driven 30-60 days a year.

That explains it.

All things considered this era was very short to begin with, it only really existed in the 14o and 160, which was preceded by the 4 cylinder 121, and succeeded by the 240, which could be had with four, five, or six cylidnders.

There was something with door count as well. 343, 345. 244 and 245 maybe as well? Those cars disappeared too long ago for me to remember.

Once again a thing done frome the 140-era to the early 80s.
