As you might imagine...genuine parts for a 16 year old Nissan are either rare or unobtanium. Which means very expensive.

A genuine manual aerial for a Nissan Patrol is somewhere around AU$280.

I found this out after ordering a quality non genuine guard mounted aerial from an Australian company that’s been supplying this sort of thing for decades. Which didn’t fit. Because it s foot was too small. Or the hole in the guard was too big. You choose which.

That’s when I decided to ‘modify’ the original foot of the mostly demolished OEM aerial...and sh ove the guts of the new aerial into it. Then fix it to the guard with a piece of grey water irrigation pipe (hence the sexy purple stripes).

FM radio is far more important than concourse condition ...and only $28 too.
