They need to find a way to de-macho Dodge. There’s no doubt that going in that direction saved Dodge in the mid 2000s but the market has moved on and they’re stuck with having to make all their models  look aggressive and butch. They need to be able to just make a regular car again, especially now that Chrysler is effectively dead.

So a less aggressive Dart...? The Neon?

But why? That's one thing I personally like about Dodge is that they are aggressive looking as pretty much a whole. What should they make some amorphous blobs so they can have a generic car/SUV too

T hey need to solidly hit the big segments with close to class leading products (with atleast average quality) - compact SUV, midsized SUV, full size pickup. They are doing a decent job with the new 1/2 ton pickup and their offerings at Jeep other than some  quality issues. They might benefit in brand consolidation - Jeep (“action” SUV centered), Dodge (trucks, mainstream suvs, remaining cars like the Charger and Challenger) , and Chrysler leans luxury like Lincoln with compact and midsized SUV, the 300.)

Dodge just needs CUV’s. I’ve said it before, take the existing platform that the Jeep Cherokee rides on (which used to underpin the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart) and create 2-3 utes from subcompact to midsized.

Chrysler needs to steal the Dodge Durango and plop the the plugin hybrid used in the Pacifica and make it their version of a GMC Yukon Denali/Lincoln Navigator for $10K less.

Come to think of it, look to Hyundai/Kia/Genesis for inspiration.

Do what everyone else is doing- remove any semblance of uniqueness in their lineup and build 3 slightly different sub compact CUVs , a compact CUV , 6 different between- compact- and- midsize CUVs , 2 midsize CUVs , a between midsize and full-size CUV, and 12 full size SUVs. Then, m arket them to the #activelifestyle and #millenials with shitty commercials featuring feet-out-of-the-window -straw-hat girl.

I mean, duh.

I’m pretty sure Chrysler just needs to die. There’s not much worth saving at this point. The Pacifica just becomes the new Caravan (or just the Dodge Pacifica) , and the 300 goes away (I don’t remember if it was an official statement, but it seems pretty clear that it won’t be updated when the Charger and Challenger are).

Plenty of people don’t want a car that’s brash and attention-grabbing. Dodge is restricting appeal and losing potential sales by not having more normal looking offerings. Nobody is buying a Charger as a family car unless they’re a gear head .

I think the Dart was a step in the right direction but it wasn’t a strong  enough offering and ended up being a flop. Perhaps a Dodge-badged version of the 200 would have gone over better.
