Her name is Veronica, She’s not perfect but I paid 1250 and I can’t complain.
Had to drive 20 miles at 70-75 on the freeway. Handles fine, those wheels are 80s Enkei

This will be a fun car!

Ah, I see a previous owner updated the headlights. It maybe not be the best-looking solution (those LEDs look out of place on an older car) but the extra viewing range at night should be worth it!

Oh snap. How much longer will you be hiding this from your wife?
![]() 07/19/2018 at 21:30 |

Nice! My wife and I borrowed one like that for our first date many, many moons ago.

I can’t not see 3rd gen Prelude in those wheels.

Congrats! Looks like a clean little VW! My brother had a green one back in the 80s. It’s what he replaced his 69 Firebird with.

I told her before I signed the title

It is a fun car, I’ve already put 100 miles on it

It’s the only acceptable way to do it.

Yeah they are kind trashy, but so is the whole car

That is a strange change of cars, but I basically replaced my 91 Galant VR-4 with this lol.

You’re telling me. After the Rabbit, he had a ‘81 V8-6-4 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. He makes strange choices,

Not entirely serious, but I desperately miss my Golf, and I love the round headlights of that era.

If it had square headlights I might not have bought it

Or stupider maybe both. If this was going to be my only car I would have walked away, but being a summer only second car it’ll do.

Welcome to the old ass VW club! Don’t try do DD it!
![]() 07/20/2018 at 08:59 |

It’ll probably be a 5 day a week car in the summer. The only days I need to use the BWM are Wednesday and Saturday when I need to haul more people or stuff than it can fit.

Best of luck! I would seriously keep the BMW in reserve. My 22 year old VW is horrendously unreliable, so I can’t imagine your 34 year old one would be much better.
Looks beautiful, though.
![]() 07/20/2018 at 09:34 |

Oh it’s rough, especially on the interior, 34 year old German plastic is worse than you’d think. This is car will have collector plates which means I won’t be able to drive it November-March I think? So the BMW isn’t going anywhere.
![]() 07/20/2018 at 09:40 |

Where do you live? In Ohio if you have historic/collectors, you’re not supposed to go more than 200 miles/year and are only supposed to drive it for cruising/to shows (but nobody checks)
![]() 07/20/2018 at 09:51 |
|
Yeah I was just looking on the DMV website and I can’t figi out how it works. There’s a collector plate where you can’t have any modifications, and then hobbies plates where it needs to “no longer be recognized as the original make and model” lol
![]() 07/20/2018 at 09:57 |
|
Hm. Would the LED lights take it too far from collector level stock?
![]() 07/20/2018 at 10:15 |

Nice Price! Looks like a lot of fun! I DD’d an 81 Scirocco for years until a wiring issue stopped me last winter.

Your Minnesota right? I was told that that all collector plate means is that it can't be your primary vehicle.

I’m in Wisconsin. Just got it registered. The deal here is its 200 to register the car but then it’s set for life no annual renewal. The only stipulation is that you can’t drive the car in January and you have to have another with regular registration.
