It’s only fair game. Google’s algorithm doesn’t discriminate. If you get enough people to click on your thing, you can get it to Google’s front page.

The right got Bill Clinton associated with the word rapist , a photoshopped pic of an ape with Michelle Obama’s face, and Hillary Clinton with a sick person opening a pickle jar.

There have been some joint efforts like associating Comcast with the swastika, United Airlines with a fake ad that says "Enjoy Your Fight", and so on. Google has been pretty firmly against policing the algorithm, so anything goes.

I guess it isn’t fair in a traditional sense, but sadly it’s the Internet and Internet trolls will be Internet trolls. Admittedly, I’ll have a good laugh and get on with my meaningless life. Shoot, I even had a giggle at the Clinton pickle jar thing. Sometimes when I feel things are spiraling out of control, a laugh at something stupid is all I have.

Side note/rambling : Some time in January or so I was jokingly considering running for a local office. With my recent career revelations, I doubt my career will end in IT. The only thing stopping me from trying something new is the desire to not uproot the cushy life I’ve built for myself. Being a pilot can easily get massively expensive and not pay well for a while. Being a local politician (and eventually beyond) means any shred of privacy and secrecy I had left in my local level activism will be eliminated. But both seem like massively more interesting things than IT . Who knows, if a reporter (Danica Roem) can get elected, maybe this hoarder can. lol

T emporary (1 week) , unless there was some additional poo throwing in the deleted comments. Regardless, usually when an Oppo flames out like that, they don’t return...well not under their previous handle. I’ve seen a few come back as annoying burners.

Yeah, there have been many Oppos that have gotten the boot over the years. Mkb and jkm haven’t even been the worst offenders, IMO. We once had a guy that loved calling Oppo’s women whales and much worse things just for giggles. Many of them ran away to Oppo Facebook where the moderation is more lenient, leading to a readership that often leans much more right than Oppo Kinja. That said, Oppo Facebook is much less “off topic” than Oppo Kinja, so the fights seem less frequent.

My personal blog has a list of blocked people (50/50 Oppos and people from Groupthink) who jumped on the opportunity to send similarly awful comments my way. Surprise surprise, none of their accounts have many posts after they got banned from here/Groupthink.

One of them was even a mod . That was an interesting day. I think it was a prime example of how comments said outside of the subject environment  can be used against you within that environment.

Eh, that guy is/was known to be a troublemaker (his explosion before being banned here was quite something). Fundamentally not a good person or someone who should’ve ever been made a mod there. He had bullied his way into that position claiming that the right wingers needed a mod, and became the Trump of Mods. I cry no tears about his removal.

A shame really. In my experience with them, mkb would at least converse with me most of time even when we disagreed, jkm would be all or nothing.
