Wow, that is really really bad. It wasn’t even close to being able to slow down fast enough should there have been a car/pedestrian there . It completed the turn faster than you did FFS!

It’s a freeway onramp in front of a freeway offramp. I do not see the issue here. That lane the Semi was in is a turn-lane-only, meaning it had to turn anyway. And it is an extremely rare circumstance for someone on a freeway offramp to want to get back on the freeway by crossing through that intersection.

So the odds of a vehicular accident under this situation is next to zero, unless some indecisive fuck decided “yeah, I’m getting back on the freeway.”

That said, I don’t see any lights for that turn lane, and there is no pass-through for that lane either, directly in front of the turn lane is a curb and the traffic light pole.

I’d say this was a minor lapse in traffic design on the planner’s part, but not one that warranted an increase in the budget to correct it.

Shit like this is the only reason why I am totally okay with red light cameras. Pretty much any intersection that doesnt get SUPER busy is okay to post cameras as far as im concerned. The issue is when its the middle of a city where the only way you can turn left is once the light turns red. That is a shitty design but red light cameras would only make that worse.

Red means red. Law states you have to stop BEFORE turning. There is also a crosswalk with a Walk sign . Keep that in mind.

I frequently go straight in a very similar situation because the on-ramp splits to a frontage road for my neighborhood. Assholes pull this shit all the time - thank god my current car both stops and accelerates much faster than my old one, or I would’ve been hit several times.
