After !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I d ecided to trade my FiST for a 17 Camaro RS V6 manual. I liked the FiST a lot, but the Camaro is a seriously good car, and I believe will be overall more fun than the Fiesta. I never thought I’d ever be interested in, let alone own, a V6 Camaro but this 6th gen is great. It has good power at 335hp and sounds great. The manual adds a lot of character and fun. I’ve ordered a GM CAI that comes with a GM tune that should improve response and add a few HP.

After you get used to not being able to see out of the Camaro, it doesn’t feel all that large. It actually feels relatively small and nimble. Which is another thing I never guessed I’d say about a Camaro. Overall, I’m surprised!

I have to say I considered this RS V6 in large part due to the price. It had a $31,500 MSRP and the final sale price was $23k. Plus they gave me a very generous trade value on the FiST, so the actual deal value was greater than that. At this point, the 17s are being blown out, and I was happy to find a relatively unusual 1LT RS V6 manual.

Nice car. Is this brand new? If so, I didn’t realize there was so much on the hood. That would be very interesting to me!

Yep, just had a few test drive miles on it. Take a look around - if you can find a leftover 17 in a spec you like , you can make a great deal. This one was kind of weird since it’s a 1LT, RS V6 manual. Performance guys want the V8. Sporty coupe shoppers want an auto. Bargain shoppers want the 4-cylinder turbo . An RS V6 manual is a weird middle ground, but one that happens to fit me pretty well!

Good buy! Considering the hp all the V6 muscle cars have now I can’t argue much against them.

I don’t personally like the new Camaro but it’s mostly just preference, not like I think there’s anything actually wrong with it. I just really like the Challenger more is all .

Good to know! Do you have the performance package?

There’s a supercharger kit out there that will nab you an extra 100-140hp.

In the end you’re getting a more powerful V6 instead of a four, but nice choice. I drove and reviewed one not that long ago, there were a couple things I nitpicked on but overall it was a really good car. Challenger looks really good. Just a tad too big, and I’d only get one with a V8, which is more than I want to spend at the moment. I really like the manual Scat Pack.

It is a bit porky, but I love them. I’d even take a manual with the Pentastar TBH, but I believe that that ain’t a thing that exists .

This is a regular 1LT with RS package, and optional wing spoiler. It has the standard suspension, exhaust, and 245 R2 0 all- season run flats. I actually wanted the all- seasons as I live in a very 4-season area and summer tires would make this a 9-month car without snows . All-seasons are a compromise, but this isn’t an SS and there’s more grip than I need. I’ll gladly take the winter cold temp usability in place of the unusable summer grip.

I ordered the GM performance intake which is said to improve mid-ran ge response and add a few HP. I might do an exhaust at some point but really that’s just for sound more than performance.

No, this car doesn ’t have the NPP dual-mode. I would like it, but this was a leftover unit not an ordered car so didn’t get the choice. That said, the stock exhaust actually sounds pretty similar to the NPP. Not as loud as the open baffle but the same tone. And really, this isn’t a roaring LT1 anyway...

That’s what I’m sayin! And with a great chassis that drives likes a much more expensive car. It’s a lot of car, and a lot of car for the money. The V6 revs to 7000 and sounds great, can’t go wrong.

Nice car, and good choice. If I was in the market for a vehicle in that class, what you just purchased would be at the top of my list. I was a bit disappointed in Ford for dropping the V6, and I just wonder if that decision is going to come back to bite them. V6 with a manual transmission seems to be the sweet spot, performance and price-wise, especially when the manufacturer actually treats and equips it as the performance car that it really is and doesn’t just think of the V6 model as a rental fleet special.

Back in my day a Mustang GT had 175, then 225 hp, so 335 in a car that is only marginally heavier is going to lead to some excellent performance. The only thing that the ‘80s cars have over so many newer vehicles is choice of interior color. I absolutely refuse to buy a car with a black interior, and in many vehicles that seems to be all that is offered. Sometimes you can get other choices on higher-end models, but I don’t want to have to buy a bunch of crap I don’t want just to get a change of interior color.

My dad just recently bought a Volt and almost gave up and reluctantly bought one with a black interior, but thankfully the dealer found one with grey. A ton of people at the dealership commented on hiw good it looked,as opposed to the black, and that they’d have to order more like that. Uh, yeah - good idea.

Now, just don’t run over your neighbors or do any donuts on the lawn - I suspect that your dad isn’t the mayor...

Yay! More manual Alpha platform cars!

Honestly the V6 is really really good. I had a time trying to find a manual car to test-drive, so eventually I had to order my Camaro .

If you adjust the door mirrors like you are driving a convertible or a box truck , you will take away a ton of the blindspots.

After a few thousand miles, you will get used to it.

Great choice, but why didnt you step up all the way to an Ss? Mine cost only about 3 thousand more and I got 465 hp, brembo brakes, a sound that turns heads and a car that blows off coyote mustangs in both straight line and track evemts.

V6 will should have lower running cost overall vs the V8 as well. Brakes, tires, oil changes will all be cheaper on top of better fuel economy.

You don’t sacrifice that much more fun in the 6 to have a more affordable daily sports car.

I’m considering a V6 as well. And with deals like these popping up, they are hard to pass if you’ re in the market for that kind of car.

Nice car, congrats! When I was in the market to trade in my Mustang V6, I seriously considered a Camaro like this. The local Chevy dealer had a blue one w/ V6 and manual transmission. I use my car mostly for long road trips, so I like have the horsepower on tap, but can also appreciate decent gas mileage. The Chevy V6 seems like it might be a good compromise between those two conflicting goals. I ultimately ended up getting a Mustang GT instead (highway gas mileage is very close to the old V6), but I still think the V6 Camaro is an under-appreciated car. I look forward to hearing about your experiences with it!

You definitely got a great deal for that. I’m in the market for a SS, thing 8s where I live everyone has them for 36-42k. I don’t know how I’d talk someone down for one. I’m thinking of getting a 2016-18 edition due to the exterior maybe next year or following year . I’m not a fan of the 2019 coming out. If anyone has tips please let me know, I’m almost willing to order out of state and get it shipped by truck carrier

Thanks , I didn’t think much of the V6 until I got some details on and drove this gen. It seems like a great drivers car and great value at the moment. I'm sure there will be some "you got a Camaro without a V8" moments though!

Might try looking for a 17 that has what you want and see if can make a deal. Dealers want them gone and are now on their own to get rid of them. Worst they'll say is no.

Thanks StoneCrab, hopefully I can find something. I wonder if there are any 17s in my area. I really want to find a SS 1LE, that’s my true dream car. But they are hard to find, and I cars.com and auto trader don’t have a “ option package” to filter that option. Almost like I have to search alone since I know if I asked help from forum people they’d jump on it too
