Wouldn’t an Eldorado drive train with an Olds 455 really be a Toro nado drive train?

Why can’t we have unusual, funky RVs at a reasonable amount of money?

My brother-in-law has one of those. His has the Buick 455 with MSD Atomic EFI. His is a ‘76 and if he’d held out for a ‘75, he could have avoided smog worries. But he’s not one to seek or take advice, nor one to lift a wrench...

Saw one of these when I was driving up highway 1 last year. It was the only thing slower than my saab.

These coaches have a fanatical following.

Similar, but way more wacky, is the Star Streak RV. It was custom-built by an officer in the Air Force in 1971. Uses the same drivetrain and rides on a Cadillac chassis .

That belongs in the Smithsonian Museum.

Even better, it is currently on display at the California Automobile Museum.

I say better, because the museum is 10 minutes from my house and also showcases Linda Ron stadt’s Porsche 911. Take that, Smithsonian.

I too have heard it described as Eldorado with Olds engine, so I have to assume there’s a reason for it. Possibly brakes, springs, heavier CVs, heavier swaybar, different subframe... or something.

As awesome as that looks, I feel it’s a representation of the direction current auto design trends is heading, especially in the truck arena . Comically tall front ends. See: current Ford and Chevy/GMC 3/4 ton trucks.

Yeah 19 76 is a bad year to have in CA.  The 75 would be much less headache every two years.

It’s tall in both axes then. That brow is ree-donculous.

But I agree about trucks being dummy-tall these days.

I wish I would have bought one of these fi ve years ago. You could still get a pretty nice one for well under $10k.

My brother-in-law has the better part of $50k invested in his, I suspect.

I like the hubcaps on this car. Blue ones might be fun on Rusty, but a good set would probably cost a grand.

Maybe not a grand, but several hundreds, I should think. They’d be interesting on Rusty though, wouldn’t they? In blue?

Something to keep my eyes open for at the swap meet. But I bet a set of those caps in good condition would be hundreds. And from the pictures I've been looking at, blue ones were uncommon.

As hub caps go, I like those. They’d probably be a little tacky, but hey: you didn’t buy a mid-70s Cadillac to not be tacky.

I’m in love with that Bicentennial Eldorado, though. It’s one of my favorite cars of all time. Sure glad I found it. It’s perfect: 27 feet long and a strangled big block that can’t make any power. Absolutely glorious. I love Murica.
