TBH, I was planning to post this, but the one above seems more appropriate right now...

Don’t Change is one of my top 3 all-time favorite songs.

It is an awesome song, and easily the best INXS song - and I seriously was going to post it with the headline “Don’t Change, Oppo”, but then I logged on and saw what a shitshow tonight has apparently been...

...yeah. I hope it marks the beginning of the end of political discussion around here.

Both of these are great songs. I remember how much they played "Don't Change" and "The One Thing" on MTV when they were new songs. Yes, that's how old I am.

I suppose it would be kinda nice, but at the same time, defining ‘political’ isn’t easy, and this is an off-topic thread by definition.

On top of that, most of us *are* reasonably civil even in those discussions, and it’s not that hard to just skip those posts if you want, anyways.  I just wish people could be more civil - but that’s a mirror of what’s going on across this country...

Well, it’s no coincidence that the vast majority of music links I post on Oppo are songs from the early to mid-1980's myself...

I miss MTV. I know you can watch videos on the internet, but it's not the same. They played such random shit in those days and you never knew what could be next.

True-  we must have gotten cable around 1982-83, so I was 14 or 15, and immediately glommed onto MTV as my favorite channel.  However, their playlist didn’t go all that deep, so there was a lot of repetition.  As a result, I think the songs that really stuck with me were the next level down from the biggest hits (ie, Space Age Love Song and not I Ran by Flock of Seagulls, etc etc).

It’s definitely gotten worse, yeah, both here and everywhere.

I had another thought on the situation as I was going to sleep last night, but now I don’t remember it.
