Thundercats are fun: the spectating’s as good as that video suggests. And it can’t be that difficult: I know a guy who did it for a few years - he had no relevant experience and he’s no Sebastian Lieb, but he survived and did ok
Really cheap to get into, too: a half decent used boat goes for under $5k and running costs aren’t bad, apparently
A lot of that’s filmed at Waihi Beach, where my folks live - I watch the racing from their deck on occasion.

I’d love to try it. I’ve done about all the dumb things I can think to try on my 9.9 hp tinny and my 55 hp sport boat thing and would be Keen to try new stupid things.

This looks a bit like the Basic Reconnaissance Course (okay, with cats instead of a mono-hull zodiac) , but without the guarantee of being cold, miserable and being treated like crap by the Marine Corps.

Thundercats are fun and quite amazing to pilot but they are like big impractical jet skis. Therefore on their own they are less fun and more annoying (especially to onlookers). Imagine trying to daily drive a race car. Fun...but not at all practical.

The running finish is even better than the Lemans start.
