Are you feline it now Mr Krabs?

Kinja'd!!!

Holes drilled, seat is now bolted on! I ziptied the seat center support (which is the part that holds my weight) in place for test fitting and also ziptied the rear fender in. I have no clue how I’m going to mount that fender for real.

The footpegs for the CX are offset towards the front. However, left to right they are perfect mirror images so if I swap them left to right I get footpegs offset to the rear. I’ll need to hack some length out of the brake pedal and re-weld it, and then add that same length into the shifter for super ghetto rearsets.

View from the seat

The seating position with the slimmer cafe style seat is way better. I can actually tuck in and hug the tank if I want to, plenty of control and room to stand up, and it’s not TOTALLY neck breaking for cruising.

Kinja'd!!!

Tacked the seat support

Kinja'd!!!

It’s been a while since I welded. Meh.

Kinja'd!!!

Nice.

Kinja'd!!!

Cleaning up some wiring sins. Need to find a decent starter button but I had other stuff that needed doing tonight so I had to stop for now. Hopefully tomorrow my engine gasket will get here. Later tonight I need to split my carbs apart and replace a few o-rings to hopefully stop the gas-tastrophe that has occurred .

Good progress, it’s good to see you’re getting it back on the road after everything that happened with it.

The unique engine layout keeps popping up when I see bikes lately. I saw this ratty one yesterday. It's nice to see yours getting put back together, after it was mercilessly trashed by those theiving assbags.

They’re generic aluminum stuff from Amazon actually. They seem pretty stout.

Flying-vee engines are not all that common... Honda CX and ST lines... and Moto Guzzis.

I wish stressed-member 90-degree V-twin Spine-frames were not quite so popular... driving the price of used Yamah Viragos way up... but basically a clone of “ the Vincent Motorcycle”

Another fun one, the old Flat 4 Gold Wing and Silver Wing. Mix between a BMW layout, (copied also by Ural), and an almost VW-like flat-4, but water-cooled and reliable.

That is the thing about 70s-90s Japanese bikes... Japan was building copies of all sorts of European bikes, but affordable and reliable... then they started building metric cruisers, clones of Harley Davidsons, but actually reliable and capable.

Seems like they have lost their variety and enthusiasm since then.

I didn’t start riding until I was 35, and so far I’ve only ridd en scooters, so I’m really just starting to notice all this stuff.
