Pulled apart my new engine and swapped rear covers, set the engine under the bike and test-spun it and I have spark now! One more mystery solved. Rear frame butchery after the jump
Starter plugged in, wiring harness hooked up. Crank it over and I get spark!
Working on cleaning up the wiring a little bit.
owo what’s this?
Buh bye hideous rear subframe.
Yessssssssss
A little butchery to that rear frame section...
Boom! Brace for the seat.
Nice. Bit of welding shenanigains and that should be good to go.

Dare I ask why the sledgehammer was needed?
Also I highly recommend Benji’s and Dime City Cycles for cafe parts. They made it easy when I built my CB750F

The sledgehammer was there to threaten the new engine. Dime City and BCR are a bit out of my price range but it is fun to oogle their stuff.

My wife ordered the cafe seat from BCR as a wedding gift for me, Dime City I bought gauges, headlight, handlebars, grips, regulator/rectifier , simple things that didn’t cost too much . One tip to save money, powder coat the wheels flat black and they’ll look 100x better without breaking the bank.
