The way he comments about accidentally damaging certain things while working on it strikes me as evidence that he does some of the work with his own hands, even on the F1 (which he overtly refers to as the “scariest car to work on” due to the expense of everything, so he must reassure himself that it’s still “just a car”). I’m sure he has help from at least a couple of specialist technicians, so he’s not doing the work alone , but he’s still more involved than almost any other F1 owner when it comes to the mechanicals of the car.
