Yeah I think he was dumping fuel and/or oil into the exhaust to make a smoke show judging by the color of the cloud that was left behind.
EDIT: Luscombe dude showed up in a pearl blue C6 Grand Sport. I’m so goddamn jealous.

I am of the opinion (fact, really, you can’t argue visual scientific data which shows that I am correct all the time) that painting an airplane is dumb. Naked metal is so pretty!
