Because what if you didn’t? Oh sweet heavens, what if your car isn’t locked?

I never lock my cars. I leave nothing in the cabin worth more than the cost of replacing a broken window.

Lock your cars.

My lock actuators get fucky when it’s warm out, so I check all the doors before walking away every time I park.
Carproof for my vehicle showed a few theft from vehicle claims, so I'm guessing the PO wasn't as obsessive.

I do the same. Sadly I still have to replace windows occasionally . Always try the door handles first!

Fintail is never locked, prior owner lost the key, I’ve never had one made. There’s nothing in it of much value, and I’d rather not lose a window.

My mom recently had her car robbed at the airport because the power lock for one of the rear doors doesn’t always work. I’d like to fix it for her, but I’m pretty ill-equipped to diagnose exactly what is wrong.

I commute daily on a motorcycle from 1978 with no steering lock or any deterrents of any kind, and the ignition wires out in plain sight. That article made me feel nothing...

Look, I drive a beater that was made the same year as me. The locks lock. And they unlock. But if it sits locked for more than an hour or so, it doesn’t unlock. I’m just gonna take my chances. What are they gonna do, steal the radio that doesn’t work? Take out the seats with torn upholstery? Ooh, I’m so scared! Let me make an insurance claim!

In that case, I can be of no help unfortunately.

Oh god, the linked article could be an excerpt of my thoughts whenever I’m on a road trip. It was the worst in Hawai’ i when we had a ton of shit in a soft-top Wrangler. I went back to double-check it was locked at least three different times (it always was).

My nicer cars, I lock. My XJ with a 5 speed? Haven’t locked that up since I bought it. Nothing good to steal inside, and I figure having a manual is a really good theft deterrent .

Nope. Old jeep owner here. Locked doors equal slashed windows. feel free to take my change its all yours. If i actually have something valuable in the car i will lock it but on the day to day i do not.

When I lived in Mississippi, nobody locked anything. Cars, houses. Nobody messed with anything either, even in the Wal Mart parking lot my friends would leave their keys in their trucks and leave their toolboxes unlocked. Never heard of anything being stolen.
I’m not that brave though, haha.

I wonder how many times he locked his car in the process of writing that post.
