The truck has plates again, since posting back in November about driving it again, it has only had insurance for days at a time. This will be the longest period of driving it since our wedding in 2013.

Last night, my wife went to work at the police station in the next city over. I secretly insured the truck and brought it to our townhome. I wasn’t sure how she’d react finding it in the driveway (it takes up the whole driveway/carport). Luckily, she wasn’t upset (we didn’t really discuss insuring it) so once she changed, we went for ice cream and then a drive.
My goals for the truck (heavily dependant on cash) are to change out the tires as they are well past 10 years old, do some minor maintenance and change out the stereo system to something from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The radio in there right now was the best that 16 year old COFL could afford and no longer works that well.
I also plan on taking it to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! if any Vancouver/PNW Oppo’s want to come along for the day.

Other than that, I just plan on lots of drives, winery trips, distillery visits and taking our bikes places. Fingers crossed for a mechanically sound and safe summer.

Totally, I think later in the summer though. I have to buy new tires and I know Zoidberg is busy with the move

I’m now paying about $450 each month to our ICBC overlords between the 3 cars.
Luckily I get the commision for each of my autoplan policies, but it doesn’t help that much.

Sounds about right, gas is where it’s going to sting.

yeah, it’s about $1.47-$1.50 a litre in Langley/Vancouver right now. Luckily I am pretty close to either the border or Abbotsford (outside the Metro region taxes).

450 each month? Holy shit. I know it’s CAD, but that’s still a lot.

Welcome to BC. One of the most expensive places to live in North America

Have you gotten a quote from Hagerty? My ‘71 Mustang only costs me $60 a year for a $5,000 valuation as a 29 year old.

Depending on how it’s stored this seems like a good candidate for a collector’s policy.

Sadly most of the cost come from the liability coverage which only available from our government insurer. I don’t actually carry PD cover on this vehicle.

Do to various reasons, this isn’t eligible for our provinces collector’s plates. The age is right, but isn’t in good enough condition. I’ve tried.

I don’t think Hagerty has a registration type limit. I just looked at their most recent qualifying criteria. You might be able to have a standard reg and collector’s insurance. I know you can do that in the USA.

Yeah, you can. But as mentioned, the cost of the insurance is solely from the liability cover. I don’t carry PD on it

Damn, sorry to hear that.
Truck looks great though!

Yeah, no thanks. My insurance is basically half yours, 180 USD, a month.

Thanks! Not as cool as your van, but it makes me smile when I drive it.

Hey, that’s all that matters.
I love your body style Dodge trucks. I rarely see them around anymore so it’s nice to see one looking so good!
