That left plug looks like it’s actually just straight up made of wood.

Damn, any idea as what caused the delamination? Water get in there somehow?
Also is that cake car edible?

Rust is a decent insulator, which is good in a magnetic core since it insulates between the laminations and reduces eddy currents (which are losses) - this means a touch of rust on a core isn’t a bad thing. The above pictured coil is far, far, far too much of a good thing. Was it submerged in the ocean for a while?

Rain, snow, mud, salt. And it was a year overdue to be swapped

The coils are positioned low between the frame rails because of the horizontal engine. So low in fact that to do the swap you come in from the bottom, not the top. I don’t have the factory splash shield installed because I replaced it with an aluminum skid plate. The plate has saved my oil pan a number of times, but it doesn’t lend itself as well to water/snow/mud prevention.
And the cake is delicious

Just realized you meant the car itself. That part isn’t edible

Not related; Fedex has really good employee health insurance options. If you still work there, enroll at the next opportunity if you haven’t. They’ve made managing my current disaster much easier.

FXG uses contractors, the drivers aren’t employees of the company
...also the pay is turrible

Sorry to hear that. If it’s any consolation, the disaster I’m weathering means fedex will be paying me $0 for the month of July. You’ll be making way more than I do!
